More than 300 small business events will be held across NSW next month during Small Business September 2006.

NSW targets Queensland finance workers

A successful event was held in Brisbane on August 10 to attract more finance sector skills and business to NSW.

Premier Morris Iemma was joined by a delegation of banking industry leaders and young professionals to promote the advantages of NSW and Sydney.

Mr Iemma said Sydney was firmly entrenched as the nation’s financial services capital and the city's reputation as a regional financial hub in the Asia Pacific was growing.

“The NSW Government is working aggressively, both locally and globally, to attract the right people with the right skills to get the most from their careers and to drive our economy further,” Mr Iemma said.

The Brisbane skills drive was attended by over 100 current students or recent graduates who are keen to pursue a career in the financial services industry in Sydney.

A series of meetings with small to medium Queensland businesses was held the following day.

The efforts were part of the NSW: We Mean Business campaign – designed to lead promote the strengths and opportunities on offer in NSW.
